What is Lymph and What In The World Is The Lymphatic System?
Lymph by definition is clear fluid. It is a clear fluid that contains white blood cells and circulates throughout the body. Lymph is one of the two fluids in the body. The other fluid is blood. And they pretty much run side by side. The lymphatic system is made up of lymph nodes, capillaries, ducts, and organs. The lymph is the fluid part of this system.
The human body is a whole. All the systems of the body work together to keep the body healthy and bring it into homeostasis. One often overlooked system is the lymphatic system. It is the sewer system and
the bodyguard of the body. It houses our white blood cells that fight off infections and foreign invaders, which are a very important part of the immune system. It also filters out toxins and maintains fluid levels in the body by collecting toxins excreted from organs. It absorbs excess fluid, proteins, electrolytes, toxins and foreign substances from tissue spaces around cells. It cleanses those tissues and removes waste. It also helps transport hormones and immune cells throughout the body. In a nutshell, the lymphatic system and its immune cells protect the body and keep it clean.
